Poor Loki Torrent

Last night I was flipping through the channels while taking a break from reading and the movie Loser, with Jason Biggs and Mena Suvari, was on so I decided to watch it while doing some other stuff. If you haven't seen it, consider yourself lucky! How is it that movies this bad actually get made? The only reason to watch is for Ms. Suvari, who ends up being rather bitchy to Mr. Biggs. If I wanted to watch a movie about real life senseless girls I'd walk outside and hit on a random cute girl! And the ending was totally ridiculous, but I guess that's what teen movies are for.

Enough ranting, onto a non-teen movie. The Fantastic Four movie is in production and Yahoo! Movies has a behind-the-scenes featurette on it. I think they're doing too many comic book movies at the same time, and I'm surprised they actually went ahead with Fantastic Four because it never really had a huge fan base. Any one else skeptical about the choice for Sue Storm? I love Jessica Alba as much as the next guy, but Sue Storm? Who knows, maybe it'll all come together to be something great. I've got enough comic book anticipation on my plate right now though with Batman Begins and X-men 3.

And now, the title issue: Loki Torrent has fallen in front of the MPAA's crosshairs :( Don't get me wrong, I'm no supporter of downloading movies. Not that I've never done it before, I just don't like to do it anymore (UGL has movies free anyway). However, torrents are a GREAT way for me to get TV shows that I missed or shows I can't watch in Austin because I don't wanna shell out for cable television for the grand total of 3 shows I'd actually watch. I download some regular tv shows out of convenience and video quality, but I rely on torrents for that! Hell I wouldn't mind the commercials being on them if that made it more legitimate, it's just so much easier. Some of you may know that Suprnova, the torrent giant, has been taken down by the big boys at MPAA already. However, Loki Torrent is willing to put up a fight and is asking for donations from its adoring public. If I wasn't a poor college student I'd help out, but until I graduate I'll have to stick with Torrent Reactor and torrents.co.uk.

And for the sake of posting a techie article, here is an article about Micro$oft putting a pause on IE updates until Longhorn comes out. I realize that this isn't new news, but it's a sigh of relief for the good people who work on Firefox, which I'm using for this post right now. IE has its advantages, but I love tabs and Firefox is more reliable in general. M$ claims that they want to focus on stability for their OS with Longhorn right now, which is probably a good idea anyway.

Yeah, I remember that conversation =P That's the reason I've always been reluctant about getting a blog, but I think I've avoided it by not making it really about my life. I just always thought that it was weird for people to write about their lives in details in an online format for anyone to see rather than talking to their friends about it directly. But like I said in my first post, I've seen a lot of techie people (like Google) have blogs about discoveries or revelations they've had or things they've just thought about. So I thought I'd do that plus maybe posts with funny quotes and movie stuff or music stuff.

Thanks for the URL! :) Hope your break to Houston hasn't been too crushing compared to college =P
